Utah Trip

Avery had so much fun on her first road trip to Utah. On our way down there she slept all the way until Tremonton and then woke up. I was past all the Tremonton exits and I didn't want to turn back to Kyle's grandmas, so I just kept on going with Avery crying in the back seat. She wore herself out by Willard and slept the rest of the way to Roy. Thank goodness for the radioKyle came down on Friday with his sister so Avery and I didn't have to drive home alone.
Here are just a few of the people she was able to meet during our trip (the ones that I remembered to take pictures of).

There are 5 generations on my dads side of the family. My Great Grandpa Thompson is 99 years old and is still in pretty good health. The women holding Avery is my Grandma Meenderink and my dad and I are in the back. My grandma is very into geneology and puts all her 5 generation pictures of her grandchildren in the Standard Examiner. So keep checking the paper for our debut. I almost feel a little famous, but it's just Roy.

This is Kian Rev Fitzpatrick. My best friend Chantal and her husband Brady had there baby boy the exact same day Avery was born. Kian just happened to be 5 weeks early and Avery was 3 days late. Can you tell there is a difference in size? I love my chubby baby!! I just know they are going to be boyfriend and girlfriend someday even if we have to force them together. They were so fun to take pictures of together because Avery's big head and flower kept flopping onto Kian and I think he was getting pissed off.

Avery also got to meet my two very good friends Shelly and Tiffannie and Tiffannie's little boy Heston, who I also took a picture of and forgot to post. It was SO FUN to hang out with them and catch up on our lives. I was very sad Avery didn't get to meet Jodi, Jessica, and Lori, but my cell phone broke the very first part of our trip and it was hard to get something planned at the last minute. But we will be back in May for a week again so we will have to try and plan something then. Avery and I are just dieing to meet and see everyone.

Avery also got to meet Kyle's grandma Mary who is 96 years old. She broke her hip last year and is now confinded to her home in Tremonton. Kyle was so excited to introduce the two to each other, you can tell by the grin on his face. You can tell from this picture who Avery got her chubby cheeks from. Thanks Daddy!!

I just thought I would throw this picture in because I love this onesie. My husband for some strange reason loves to do taxes (maybe because he's a finance major and works for a bank) and when I bought this onesie I was totally thinking of him. I always thought Avery looked more like her dad, but a lot of people in Utah said she looks like me. Now I'm not so sure anymore.

Avery also got to meet my brother Lynn and his wife Tory and my sister Miranda. I just completely forgot to take there pictures together. She also got to meet my Aunt Wendy and Uncle Kent and my cousins Jordyn, Paige, Mason, and Gus. My cousin Elizabeth (Buffie) came down from Salt Lake one day to do my hair and she also got meet Avery. We also took her to Heber on Saturday to meet my uncle Neal and aunt KayLynn and Grandma Galer. One day I even took her into my mom's work, so her grandma could show her off. We did so much traveling and introductions, we were exhausted by the end of our trip. It's always nice to go to Utah where my family is and I have a ton of help, but it's nice to come home too.

Utah Here We Come!!!

Avery is going on her very 1st road trip to Utah. I am so excited to come and introduce my baby to all my family and friends, but incredibly nervous at the same time. I'm praying she just sleeps the whole time or I can at least make it to Kyle's grandma's in Tremonton before she needs to eat again. We will be leaving tomorrow and staying for probably a week or so. Hopefully that will be plenty of time to visit with everyone. I want to try and get together with everyone, maybe have a girls night or something. So wish us luck on our 4 hour drive and we hope to see you ALL soon!!

Gallbladder/ Avery Update

Avery loves her new tummy time mat. A builder of Kyle's gave it to her and she has so much fun playing on it. It is suppose to be a surfboard and she loves to look at the fish in it and kick her feet and coo. I love to hear her little voice, she is just so happy and fun to play with.

Avery is getting so big, literally. I weighed her the other day and she was 10 lbs. 5 ozs. at 5 weeks old. I can't believe how big she is getting. She is now completely on formula, because the anesthesia dried up my milk. I'm happy to have my body back, but I was sad to not be able to provide nourishment for my daughter anymore. It's amazing how guilty you feel when you can't nurse your baby, it almost feels like your a failure. But I guess I had good reason, I had to have that surgery.

Avery loves to kick and stretch as you can see. She is getting so fun with her facial expressions and her alertness. She seems like a completely different baby now. I'm working on getting her on a schedule so I can get more done during the day and maybe she'll start sleeping through the night. Boy I can't wait for the day when she is sleeping through the night.

Isn't this a lovely picture...I took it because I want Avery to know everything I went through for her. I 'll use this picture to make her feel guilty sometime down the road when I need to teach her a lesson. It just may come in handy some day. My surgery went fine just over a week ago, but as you can see from the picture they had to leave a drain in (it's not urine, it's bile). I had 2 stones left in the duct that was connected to my gallbladder that still needed to pass. There is a 50% chance they pass on there own and if not you have to have another procedure. X-Rays showed on Thursday that mine indeed passed on there own, so no more procedures, YAHOO!!! I get the drain out on Tuesday, but the doctor told me it hurts when it comes out, so I'm not really looking forward to it that much, although it will be nice to not have a tube hanging out of my chest anymore.

Avery's First Easter

Here are some pictures of Avery's first Easter. Her Grandma Carolyn bought her a cute new dress to wear on her debut at church. She did so good in sacrament meeting, we didn't have to take her out at all. Avery is now 4 weeks old and I can't believe how much she has changed and grown over this time. I want her to stop growing and stay the same, except sleeping through the nights would be good.
So if you don't already know I am having surgery on Friday to have my gallbladder removed. Apparently gallstones are very common after you have a baby and I was lucky enough to get them. I will just be happy to be out of all this pain. I also have a kidney stone to go along with it...seriously did I need all of this at once. Wish me luck on my surgery it may be a while again before I can blog.

My Baby Girl Is Growing Up

I don't know how new mom's get anything done, some days I don't even get my teeth brushed until 2:00 in the afternoon. So until we get into a better routine my blogs are going to be short and sweet with a few pictures to show how big my little Avery is getting. She is almost 3 weeks old and I can't believe how fast time flies. I love being a mom and am so blessed to have her in my life!!

We Made It A Week

Isn't she the cutest thing you've ever seen!! Avery is now a little over a week old and still alive. Wow I must be doing something right. So here is the crazy story as to how she came into this world. On Wednesday February 27 I went to the doctors for my last check-up praying he would start me before March 3rd. I made Kyle go to this appointment with me, because I just knew how mad I was going to be at the doctor and I didn't want anyone to get hurt. So the nurse takes my blood pressure and it's 160 over something which is very high compared to the week before when it was 120 over something. She said to me today may be the day, but lets check your urine and see how that looks. Sure enough there was protein in my urine, now all I needed was the doctor to agree to start me. Well he agreed, but told me I still hadn't dilated or efaced at all and to start thinking about having a c-section, but not make a decision yet. He told me to go home and get my stuff together and head back to the hospital within 2 hours. I was so excited and scared, because it was finally happening and I was going to become a parent. Well we went home and got all our stuff together (my bag had been packed since week 37) and headed to St. Lukes hospital in downtown Boise. I got all changed in there attractive hospital gowns, they hooked me up to montiors, and started an IV. They told me I was having contractions about 2-4 minutes apart, but I didn't really feel anything. It made me wonder how long I had been having contractions and not feeling them. My blood pressure had gone down since I was at the hospital and I was worried the doctor was going to send me home without a baby. When the doctor came in to talk over "the plan" the first thing that came out of my mouth was, "Please don't send me home." He told me he wasn't going to send me home, but that he thought maybe a c-section was the best thing to do, because I hadn't started progressing on my own yet and aparently I have a small pelvis (all this time I had been thinking I had child birthing hips) and he thought the baby was going to be big. He said he would start me with pitocin if I wanted, but thought I would be in labor for a long time and nobody wants that so I agreed to have the c-section. He said he would be back at 8:30 to begin the surgery and I again started to get very nervous. Well the surgery began at 8:30 just like he said and she was born at 8:55 and I was in the recovery room by 9:30. I am glad now I went ahead with the c-section because the doctor said the cord was wrapped around her neck so tight that that is the reason she never dropped down into my pelvis and she came out of the womb pooping up a storm, so if they would have started me she probably would have had a bowel movement in the amniotic fluid which can cause problems during a vaginal delivery. Thank goodness I had the c-section. So theres our story at least what I can remember of it. It all seems like a big blur now, but a good one.
